The book Bihar-ul-Anwar, in English translation, has been published by the State Urdu Language Board. It is an English language translation of (a collection of) the world renowned Islamic Hadith work in 13 volumes compiled by Imam Ali ibn Ahmad al-Hussein al-Juwayni. This book consists of about 26000 hadiths and among them there are many hadiths which are not available in any other collections/books. This book (Bihar ul Anwar) was originally written in Persian language and then translated into Arabic. The Arabic version was later translated into other languages like Malayalam, Gujarati, Bengali etc. In Malayalam version it consists of 28 volumes. The following is the main contents of the book:

"Bihar-ul-Anwar" has been translated into many languages, including English, Bengali, Japanese, Korean, Gujarati etc. The same translation has also been published under the name "Bihar ul Anwar at-Tanzil ilal Asr al-Shura ilal Aqd al-Asrar". The Malayalam version has special chapters on the Shia sect and Ulama which are not found in other versions. There is also a separate book on "Ahle Bayt". The Malayalam translation has been approved by All India Sunni Jam'iyyathul Ulema in its 403rd meeting held in Kozhikode, Kerala. Since the English translation of "Bihar-ul-Anwar" is very voluminous, it has been restricted to only the main topics. It is difficult for many students to find all of them in one book itself. The Malayalam translation of "Bihar ul Anwar" was translated by Junaid Ahsan under the supervision of Shiekh Taqiyuddin Sallesvari, a senior Shia cleric of Kerala. The translation of the book was commenced in 2008 with the supervision by All India Sunni Jam'iyyathul Ulema in its 403rd meeting held in Kozhikode, Kerala. The Malayalam translation is part of the Arabic version of "Bihar ul Anwar" that has been compiled by Imam Ali ibn Ahmad al-Hussein al-Juwayni. It contains about 26000 hadiths. It was first published by TS Book Depot, Calicut in 1951 under the title 'Bihar ul Anwar'.
